I am a New York-based writer specializing in cancer, mind-body medicine, integrative medicine, and motivational and spiritual growth.

I direct Cancer Guide Consultations, which provides cancer patients with options and information about conventional treatments and complementary therapies.

I was formerly a staff writer for the Cancer Research Institute in New York, and I have written many books, including Your Defense Against Cancer and The Immune Power Personality: 7 Traits You Can Develop to Stay Healthy.

I co-authored The Type C Connection: The Mind-Body Link to Cancer and Your Health with Lydia Temoshok, Ph.D.; Self-Nurture: Learning to Care for Yourself as Effectively as You Care for Everyone Else and Healing Mind, Healthy Woman: Using the Mind-Body Connection to Take Control of Your Life with Alice D. Domar, Ph.D. of Harvard Medical School; For Thou Art With Me: The Healing Power of Psalms, with Rabbi Samuel Chiel; and Joe Torre’s Ground Rules for Winners, with New York Yankee manager Joe Torre.

In 2003, Johns Hopkins University Press will publish a collection of my writings, with comprehensive new chapters on cancer and heart disease, entitled Mind-Body Unity: A New Vision for Mind-Body Science and Medicine. I have also coauthored The Anxiety Book: Developing Strength in the Face of Fear, written with Jonathan R. Davidson, M.D., a psychiatrist at Duke University Medical Center and one of the country's leading experts on anxiety disorders. It will be published in early 2003.

I have been a regular contributor to Natural Health and Advances in Mind-Body Medicine and have written for many other publications, including New York Magazine, Tikkun, Self, and Shape.
